Kupferwerk Licht
[digital showroom / next.js + webgl] 2025
A digital showroom for a lighting manufacturer: every luminaire rendered live, every room lit before it exists.

/brief
Light is a terrible thing to photograph
Catalog photography flattens what a luminaire actually does to a room. Kupferwerk wanted buyers to experience the light, not the studio shot: how it falls, how it dims, how warm it turns at night. The catalog had to stay calm and typographic while doing all of that.
/build
A showroom that renders instead of photographs
We built the product stage in WebGL: each luminaire is rendered in real time, with warmth and dim as controls the visitor can play. The pages themselves stay static and fast; the 3D layer loads only where a stage enters the viewport, so the brochure reads like print until the light switches on.
